# The Usage page

> See exactly what's counting against your plan's limits, in real time.

The [Usage page](https://app.surfais.com/settings/usage) is the live version of the [Plans & limits](/billing/plans-limits) table — instead of what your plan allows, it shows what you're actually using right now. If a number on the plans table ever looks out of date, trust this page.

## What's on the page

Four resource cards cover the limits that are **standing caps** — configured once, not reset on a schedule:

* **Prompts** — active tracked prompts across all your brands. See [Managing prompts](/setup/prompts).
* **Brands** — own-brands you're tracking. See [Brand profile](/setup/brand-profile).
* **Competitors** — competitor brands tracked, against your per-brand allowance. On an agency account this card shows your per-brand cap multiplied by brand count, with a note to check the per-brand breakdown below — the constraint is still enforced per brand, so one brand can be at its limit even if the pooled total looks half-empty.
* **Countries** — distinct markets your prompts run in. See [Countries](/setup/countries).

Each card shows a used/total count, a percentage, and a progress bar that turns amber near the limit and red at it. None of these four reset monthly — they only change when you add or remove something, so the count reflects your current configuration, not this month's activity.

Below the resource cards, a **Visibility activity** panel shows genuinely monthly consumption instead — scans run and mentions captured since the start of the calendar month. Your prompt count doesn't change when a scan runs, but this does, and it resets automatically each month.

<Info>
  Agency accounts also see a **Usage by brand** table beneath the main cards, breaking prompts, competitors, and countries down per brand — useful for seeing which client is consuming most of your shared allowance.
</Info>

## What resets and what doesn't

* **Manual scans** reset on the 1st of the calendar month — see [Manual scans](/scans/manual-scans) for your allowance.
* **Audit allowances** reset on their own monthly or weekly cadence depending on your plan — see [Plans & limits](/billing/plans-limits#ai-visibility-audits).
* **Prompts, brands, competitors, countries, and brand aliases** are standing limits, not monthly ones — using 25 of your 30 prompts stays true until you delete or add prompts.

## What happens when you're near or at a cap

Once any resource passes 80% of its limit, an **Approaching plan limits** banner appears at the bottom of the page, naming what's close and linking to pricing. At 100%, the card switches to "Limit reached" and "Upgrade for more" becomes "Add more →".

Surfais enforces these limits at the point you try to add something, not retroactively — a prompt, brand, competitor, or country past your cap is blocked with a message to upgrade, never silently accepted or removed later. The Usage page is where you check your headroom before you hit that wall.

To raise a limit, upgrade from here (the **Upgrade** button in the header goes to pricing) or, on an agency account, add capacity a la carte — see [Add-ons](/billing/add-ons). For a one-off audit rather than standing capacity, this page also carries a card to buy audit credits — see [Extra audits](/audits/extra-audits).
