Surfais sends a few different kinds of email, and how much control you have over them depends on what kind it is. This page covers what you can turn off, where to do it, and how the one-click unsubscribe link works.

Preferences are per user, not per account

Notification settings live on your own profile, not the organisation — if you and a teammate both have accounts on the same brand, you each control your own inbox independently. Open Settings → Profile → Notifications to manage them.

Per-brand alert toggles

For each own-brand your organisation tracks, you can independently switch off three alert types:
  • Negative sentiment alerts — sent when a scan detects your brand being discussed negatively in an AI answer. You can also opt into this from the sentiment monitoring page itself, which points back to this same setting.
  • Visibility drop alerts — sent when your visibility falls meaningfully compared to recent scans.
  • Competitor overtake alerts — sent when a tracked competitor overtakes your brand’s position in an answer where you’d previously been ahead.
All three are on by default for every brand you track — nothing is opted in silently that wasn’t already the default. Switch any of them off per brand, and the change saves immediately; there’s no separate save step.

Onboarding and product tips

A separate, account-level switch controls occasional emails about getting set up and using Surfais well — distinct from the per-brand alerts above, and off is genuinely off: turning this switch off applies across your whole account in one place rather than per brand.

What you can’t turn off

Account-critical email — billing receipts, payment failures, and similar transactional messages tied to your subscription — doesn’t have a toggle on this page. These are tied to actions on your account (a charge, a failed payment, a plan change) rather than being a recurring notification you’d want to tune, so there’s no opt-out control for them.

Unsubscribing without logging in

Every eligible marketing-style email — onboarding tips, product updates — includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. It works without signing in: the link itself carries a secure, single-use identifier that authorises the request, so it works even if you’re not at your desk or don’t remember your password.
1

Click the link in the email

Takes you to a standalone unsubscribe page — no login prompt.
2

You're unsubscribed immediately

The page confirms you’ve been unsubscribed and explains what’s affected: onboarding and product-tips emails stop. Account and billing emails are unaffected, since they’re not part of this opt-out.
3

Change your mind

A Re-subscribe button on the same confirmation page reverses it instantly, or manage the same preference any time from Settings → Profile → Notifications.
If a link is broken or missing its identifier, the page tells you plainly rather than guessing, and still links back to your notification preferences so you’re not stuck.

Sentiment monitoring

Where negative-mention alerts also surface, and how sentiment is tracked.

Managing your subscription

Billing and receipt emails live here — not part of the notification toggles above.

Inviting your team

Every teammate manages their own notification preferences independently.
