A positioning claim is a fact you assert about your own brand — something about your pricing, features, or market position that you know to be true and want AI answers to get right. Once you’ve confirmed a handful of claims, Surfais checks new AI answers against them and flags anywhere an answer contradicts what you’ve told us, so factual drift doesn’t sit unnoticed in how AI assistants describe you.

What makes a good claim

A claim should be specific enough to be checkable — something an AI answer could plainly get right or wrong, not a matter of opinion. “HomeSecure is an Irish-owned home security company” is a claim; “HomeSecure has great customer service” isn’t, because there’s no factual statement to contradict. Good candidates:
  • Pricing facts — what you charge, or what’s included at a given tier.
  • Feature facts — what your product does or doesn’t do, especially anything competitors are sometimes credited with instead.
  • Positioning facts — where you’re based, who owns you, what market you serve, how you differ from a specific competitor.

Adding and confirming claims

Add claims from your brand’s settings, in the positioning claims editor. Each brand can hold up to 5 claims.
1

Type the claim

Write it as a plain factual sentence — the same way you’d want it to appear correctly in an AI answer.
2

Add it

A newly added claim is created and confirmed in the same step — there’s no separate draft state to add first and confirm later.
3

Review and remove

Every claim shows a Confirmed badge once added. Remove a claim at any time if it’s no longer accurate or no longer worth monitoring — accuracy monitoring only ever looks at what’s currently on your list.

How accuracy monitoring uses your claims

Accuracy monitoring reads your confirmed positioning claims and checks new AI mentions of your brand against them. When a scan finds an answer that contradicts a claim — crediting a competitor with something that’s actually true of you, misstating a fact you’ve confirmed, or describing your positioning incorrectly — it appears as an open alert on your brand’s accuracy page, along with the excerpt of the AI answer and the reasoning behind the flag. Accuracy checking runs as soon as you have at least one confirmed claim — every additional claim broadens what each scan can check, which is why the app nudges you towards three or more for a useful factual baseline. Add a fourth or fifth any time; there’s no requirement to use all 5 slots.
Keep claims narrow and unambiguous. A claim like “we’re the best CRM for small firms” is a matter of opinion an AI answer could reasonably phrase many ways without being wrong — it won’t produce a useful accuracy signal. A claim like “we don’t charge a setup fee” is checkable, and a contradiction is unambiguous.
